Congratulations to the fifth grade participants in the Regional Science and Engineering Fair in Mankato on May 3rd. All did a fine job with a red ribbon awarded to Tanner Teske, blue ribbons to Carrie Hiedeman and Mikki Erickson, and a purple ribbon to Paul Ragan. With a chemistry project entitled "Juice It Up With Vitamin C", Paul also received the Mankato Area Pharmacist's Society's 2nd place award for a chemistry project, the Fifth Grade Chemistry 3rd place Grand Award, and was nominated as one of the top 10% projects which recognizes the student's aptitude for science by the 2008 Society for Science and the Public Middle School Program. Of all the projects nominated, 300 semi-finalists will be chosen by August and 30 finalists will be chosen by September for a trip to Washington, DC with a parent. While there students will engage in team science learning projects and be recognized for their efforts.
